Motor Valley Emilia-Romagna Round: emotional opening for the FIM JuniorGP

Misano World Circuit > Uncategorized > Motor Valley Emilia-Romagna Round: emotional opening for the FIM JuniorGP

Misano World Circuit, 21 April 2024 – Beautiful and hard-fought races, full of twists and turns, characterized the Motor Valley and Emilia – Romagna round, the opening round of the 2024 Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship staged at the Misano World Circuit.

The championship which represents the precursor to the MotoGP saw some of the most promising riders on the international scene take to the track and the show did not disappoint expectations. Many riders reached the podium for the first time.

A prestigious event, in the wake of the combination between the territory and major international competitions. The Motor Valley and Emilia-Romagna round of JuniorGP follows the Formula E Misano E-Prix by just seven days; then in mid-June it will be the turn of the Emilia-Romagna Round of WorldSBK and in September the MotoGP with the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix. All events which, together with the MWC sports program spread over 20 weekends, highlight the connection between the regional territory and motorsport, with the organizational role of MWC acting as a glue to generate visibility and sporting events that act as an economic spin-off for the hospitality industry.

THE RACES ON THE TRACK

In the Junior GP the Spaniard Jesus Rios (MRE Talent) on KTM completed the perfect weekend by taking the victory in both races after yesterday’s pole. On the podium with him, in Race 1, the Italian Alessandro Morosi, author of a good comeback from the fifth row, and his compatriot Marcos Uriarte, while in Race 2 the Spaniard Adrian Cruces and the New Zealander Cormac Buchanan took second and third third position, completing an all-KTM podium.

In the European Talent Cup Giulio Pugliese celebrated his first podium in this category with the victory in Race 1 ahead of the Argentinian Marco Morelli and the Spaniard of the AC Racing Team David Gonzales. Teammate Gabriel Tesini also performed excellently: the San Marino driver, who started from seventeenth position, finished in 5th place. In Race 2 Pugliese had to say goodbye to the podium a few laps from the end due to a fall. Morelli triumphed, ahead of Gonzales and the Roman Leonardo Zanni, third after a good comeback.

Great anticipation for the Moto2 European Championship race, where Mattia Casadei from Rimini, MotoE world champion and on track with the Ciatti Boscoscuro team, started from third position. The victory went to teammate and poleman Alberto Surra, who climbed onto the podium together with the Spaniards Roberto Garcia, second, and Alberto Ferrandez, who prevailed over Casadei in the fight for third place.

It is the former Moto2 World Championship rider and Moto3 World Champion Lorenzo Dalla Porta who achieved victory in the Stock™ European Championship in a race that saw him struggling with a long lap to serve and then returning to the lead after the interruption due to red flag. Behind him in French Andy Verdoia and the South African Dino Iozzo.

Together with the Motor Valley and Emilia-Romagna Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship 2024 races, there will also be the Aprilia SP for the Italian Junior Speed Championship, with 17 riders registered and the Virus Power National Trophy 1000, now in its 18th edition and organized by the Moto Club Spoleto, with 22 drivers at the start.
