THE SEASON OF THE ABB FIA FORMULA AND WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP STARTS FROM MEXICO CITY

Also in Mexico were the leaders of MWC: “We will modify the runway which will become approximately 3,000 metres, the Simoncelli has an excellent value precisely in its flexibility. Formula E in the Motor Valley will be a journey into the future, a virtuous coexistence of innovative technology and environmental culture.”

The green light lit over the weekend in Mexico City kicked off the tenth season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. After the Latin American stage, Formula E will move to Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Japan before arriving in Europe with the Misano E-Prix on 13 and 14 April.

Alberto Longo, co-founder and Chief Championship Officer of Formula E: “Over the weekend in Mexico City we kicked off the historic tenth season of Formula E in front of a passionate, sold-out crowd. Every year we attract more and more fans thanks to the unique format, with the events offering entertainment to avid racing fans, families and those who love competition. We can’t wait to bring Formula E to Misano in mid-April to showcase our sport to new and old Italian fans. The event in the Motor Valley of Emilia-Romagna is one of the highlights of this season, building on the great tradition of racing and motorsport in the region and across Italy. Formula E at Misano will be an extraordinary experience for Italian fans and for those who follow it around the world.”

In Mexico City, both to live a useful experience in the organizational heart of the e-prix more similar to the one that will take place in the Motor Valley, and to define important technical and organizational aspects, a delegation from MWC was present composed of the president Luca Colaiacovo, by the managing director Andrea Albani and the technical director Luigi Guado.

Together with the technical leaders of the FIA, the leaders of MWC have focused on the format of the track, which for Formula E will undergo small systemic changes to the race and exciting for the public.

“The flexibility of Simoncelli – says president Luca Colaiacovo – allows us to adapt to the needs of the various events and when the format we are working on is definitive with the International Federation, we will start preparing immediately. The Grand Prix Truck in May also sees the track modified, we are used to these interventions. It is the result of the quality of the investments supported by the Financo ownership, which never stopped even during the pandemic period. We are also working to expand paddock 4, because the areas adjacent to the track are becoming increasingly important for the success of the events with the events of the sponsoring companies and the coexistence between champions and fans”.

The trip to Mexico City conveyed another fundamental suggestion to the top management of MWC: Formula E is an event capable of summarizing at the highest level, in a sporting event with a global profile, the innovative character of the technology that pervades it and the culture of sustainability.

“It is truly an extraordinary example – confirms managing director Andrea Albani – of how technological excellence and environmental culture can be reconciled. Formula E communicates its sustainability DNA to the world and the territories in which it takes place, meeting stakeholders, students and making every choice, even the simplest, in the name of attention to the environment. We have already started relationships in this sense in the Motor Valley, but upon our return we will ‘give gas’ to this activity because Formula E is truly an ecosystem capable of contaminating with its own virtuous best practices.”
